Kentucky Weekly Recruiting Rundown: 9/7-9/10

Julius Randle, a 6-foot-8 power forward from Texas, is arguably the top player in the class of 2013. Kentucky has not offered him yet but they are showing interest. Randle, being from the south, is garnering a lot of attention from Big 12 schools. Texas, Baylor, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Ohio State are just a number of teams to offer the rising sophomore. While it is very early in the process, Ohio State and Oklahoma have an advantage as of now. The Buckeyes staff is making a good push for Randle, who really likes coach Thad Matta. Julius will visit Oklahoma unofficially this weekend. While Kentucky has not offered yet, it is sure to happen in the near future. Perry Ellis, a 6-foot-8 forward from Kansas, is taking more visits. Ellis visited Kansas earlier in the week unofficially. Ellis will also visit Oklahoma unofficially this weekend. Follow that up with trips to Kansas State and Memphis. He will cap off his visits when he heads to Kentucky on November 11th for the Wildcats first basketball game of the season. Khem Birch, a 6-foot-9 forward from Canada, is starting to plan visits. While Kentucky has not offered yet, they are very interested in the defensive force. Birch, who is considered a top five player in the class of 2012, will visit Pittsburgh unofficially this weekend. While he has offers from Arizona, UConn, Florida, Iowa, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Texas, West Virginia and severl others. North Carolina and Kentucky are picking up on interest since the July live period. Will Khem be the next Canadian to land in Lexington? Chane Behanan, a 6-foot-6 forward from Kentucky, committed to Louisville earlier in the week. Behanan took an official visit to the school last weekend. After Kyle Wiltjer popped to Kentucky, Chane was no longer considering Kentucky. He had an offer from the Wildcats staff. Kyle Anderson, a 6-foot-8 point forward from New Jersey, is expected to visit Kentucky sometime this fall. Anderson, who is a big point guard that can play the wing position, is one of the top players in 2012. He has offers from most Big East schools, along with Arizona, Georgia Tech, Miami, Xavier, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and more. With connections to John Calipari since he was 13, there is a very good chance Kentucky could grab him. Kyle played for former UMass player Dana Dingle during the AAU season when he was younger. Dingle was part of Calipari's famous Massachussets teams from the 1990's. It certainly clicks and makes sense, especially if Kyle wants to play point guard at the next level. LJ Rose, a 6-foot-3 point guard from Texas, is coming off of a big injury. While he recovered most of the summer, Rose didn't focus much on his recruitment. LJ has an offer from Kentucky, as well as Texas, Oklahoma, Baylor, Arizona, Virginia and more. Rose, one of the top point guards in 2012, will visit Baylor and Texas this fall.
