Koby Brea: "Devin Booker is like a big brother to me."

It shouldn’t be a surprise that great shooters who spent a year at Kentucky and got drafted by the Phoenix Suns found a connection. The 41st pick in the 2025 draft, Koby Brea, has spent the offseason in the Valley of the Sun getting to know former first-round pick and Suns superstar Devin Booker. The two have formed such a bond, Brea likened Book to a big brother.
Brea spoke about his brother from another mother at Suns media day, “[Devin Booker] has been great, you know? He’s been like a big brother to me, someone who has [taken] me under his wing. You know, it’s kinda crazy, just watching the man for so long, now I get to see him and everything he is really about; the work that he puts in, how he treats other people, and stuff like that. So, for me it’s been great to learn from him, to be able to experience different things with him, and he’s definitely like a big brother to me now.”
This isn’t the first time Brea has waxed poetic about his Kentucky brethren. In a welcome-to-the-NBA interview with the Suns, Brea talked about how “crazy” and “weird” it is to be in the same locker room with someone he has watched and admired his entire life.
One of the reasons reports are so apt to ask about Brea about his relationship with Booker is the playing style comparison between the two. It is hard not to think Brea is cut from the same cloth as one of the best players in franchise history. After all, they are elite shooters from Kentucky who aren’t exactly known for their defense, right?

Brea will have some work to do to get to Booker status. He signed a two-way deal with Phoenix, meaning he will only be available to play in 50 regular-season games. That will put a lot of emphasis on his performance in the G-League to climb into the main roster’s rotation.
Still, the idea of a Book-Brea backcourt combo is kind of awesome. Throw in Nick Richards down low, and the Suns could feature a lineup where the majority of the players are all Kentucky Wildcats.
