Kentucky adds 3-star linebacker Kris Thompson to roster

Recruiting truly never stops no matter what time of year. While Kentucky is currently building its 2026 high school class, the program also isn’t done roster-building for the 2025 season. Another defensive prospect has been added to the team.
Nashville (Tenn.) Lipscomb Academy linebacker Kris Thompson committed to the Wildcats on Friday.
Kris Thompson is the No. 1,214 ranked prospect in the 2026 On3 Industry Ranking and the No. 34 overall player in Tennessee. During his high school career, Thompson made multiple unofficial visit trips to multiple SEC schools the spring before his senior season but his recruitment appeared to slow down after that. But in the end, Thompson has landed at an SEC program.
Kentucky signed 21 high school prospects in December. The program then added Tennessee offensive tackle Jason Ekperuoh to the roster later in the process. Now Tennessee linebacker Kris Thompson joins the program as another late addition to the recruiting class.
