KSR is headed to Campbellsville to watch the Eagles (8-0) host Kentucky Country Day (8-0) in a battle of the unbeaten on Friday night. Aside from Sayre, Campbellsville and KCD are the only two undefeated teams remaining in Class 1A. They also sit at the top two spots in the Class 1A RPI rankings.

This is a high-stakes matchup. While we’re well into district schedules, not only do these teams want to remain undefeated for their own success, it’ll have huge playoff implications with postseason play beginning in two short weeks. This matchup is only half of KSR’s Game of the Week doubleheader. We’ll also be checking out Bullitt East at Male on Friday night.

Campbellsville Strengths

The Eagles offense is led by sophomore quarterback Kace Eastridge. He’s got 1,568 yards on the season, with 531 of those being rushing yards. Eleven of his 23 total touchdowns have been generated on the ground. Eastridge can find his guys and make the pass, but he can also use his legs to progress the play.

The versatile quarterback will typically find his leading receiver, senior Deondre Weathers, in a pass play. Weathers totals 559 yards, 437 of those receiving. He’s recorded 20 receptions total and six of those have been touchdowns.

Daniel Forbis is another huge contributor to the Eagles. The senior totals 680 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns on the season. He’ll be the go-to guy on those 3rd/4th and short conversions.

Defensively, senior tight end Keondre Weathers leads the team with 57 tackles and nine sacks. Forbis, who plays for the Eagles defense as a linebacker, follows with 56 tackles and five sacks. Campbellsville will be efficient on both sides of the ball this Friday.

Kentucky Country Day Weapons

The Bearcats have a super-efficient offense. Senior quarterback Ethan Harris has led the team to undefeated success so far, contributing 1,178 yards passing and 13 touchdown receptions. He’ll usually find guys such as seniors Cameron Edwards or Troy Humphreys for pass plays. Edwards totals 404 yards and seven touchdowns for the season while Humphreys tallies 369 yards along with a pair of touchdowns.

KCD is super comfortable rushing the ball as well. Senior running back Kassani Wilson leads the Bearcats with an impressive 894 yards and 10 touchdowns. Wilson is who the Bearcats will go to to break up pass plays and get their team in scoring position.

Bowen Johnson is a standout player on the KCD defense. The sophomore, who also suits up at tight end, has totaled 72 tackles and 3.5 sacks. Senior OL/DL Harrison Callahan follows with 46 tackles, three tackles for loss, and 1.5 defensive sacks. Senior linebacker Lawson Cantley will get a piece of the pie on defense too, having totaled 44 tackles, three tackles for loss, and two sacks.

Someone is going to walk out of Friday’s game still undefeated while the other will see their streak come to an end. The District Two matchup kicks off in Campbellsville this Friday at 7:30 P.M. EST.
