The second round of the 2025 UK HealthCare Sports Medicine State Football Finals came with a handful of surprises.

A pair of Top 15 teams were knocked out of the postseason this past Friday: No. 11 Cooper fell to Scott County 55-34 in the KSR Game of the Week, while DuPont Manual lost a tight one, 15-14, to Male. Cooper fell out of the rankings entirely in this week’s update, with Manual just barely hanging on. We also saw Covington Catholic take down Johnson Central, 36-29, in a battle of ranked schools. Those results brought plenty of movement in KSR’s latest Top 25 rankings.

We’ll likely see even more movement in next week’s update with quarterfinal action scheduled for Friday across the Bluegrass. Some of the headliner matchups this week include Mayfield @ Lexington Christian (2A), Covington Catholic @ Boyle County (4A), Corbin @ Highlands (4A), Scott County @ Woodford County (5A), Male @ St. Xavier (6A), and Ryle @ Frederick Douglass (6A).
