Welcome to March. Can you believe it? It’s already here. For the first time in three years, the BBN is completely consumed with postseason basketball action. Before the Madness begins, it’s time to say farewell to two seniors. Kentucky hosts Ole Miss on Senior Night, beginning at 7 pm ET on ESPN.

Davion Mintz and Kellan Grady will each be participating in their second Senior Night. The COVID-19 eligibility waiver allowed the guards to get one more season under their belt, and it’s greatly benefitted the Wildcats. Grady has been the best three-point shooter in the SEC (43.7%), while Mintz has transformed into an impactful Sixth Man, scoring in double figures in 12 of UK’s 29 games.

Kentucky will conclude its 2022 season at Rupp Arena against an Ole Miss team that has lost seven of its last eight and is just 4-12 in SEC play. The Wildcats had 11 straight victories over the Rebels before last year’s loss in Oxford. Ole Miss has not won at Rupp Arena since 1998. Tonight’s a good night to keep that long streak alive, but first, a Senior Night tradition.

Perfect Kentucky Home Season on the Line

The Wildcats are 17-0 at Rupp Arena this season. A win tonight would clinch John Calipari’s sixth undefeated season at Rupp Arena and first since Jamal Murray and Tyler Ulis ran the table at home in 2016. Speaking of Ulis, prayers up to the former Kentucky All-American, who suffered multiple injuries in an auto accident in Michigan.

TV, Radio Info

It’s the final Super Tuesday of the 2022 college basketball season. Jimmy Dykes will be bringing his jet to Rupp Arena, joined court-side by Kevin Fitzgerald and Marty Smith. Tip-off is set for 7 pm ET on ESPN. If you can’t watch it, you can listen in a variety of ways:

  • AM: 840 WHAS, 630 WLAP
  • FM: 98.1 WBUL
  • Satellite: XM 81, Sirius 81, SXM App: 81
  • Online: iHeart Radio

The KSR Pregame Show with Matt and Drew will begin at 4:30 pm ET on 630 WLAP and iHeart Radio. Can’t wait around any longer? You can also hear some basketball chatter with Jack Pilgrim on Sources Say.

Vegas, KenPom Prediction

Kentucky is a 16.5-point favorite over the Rebels from Ole Miss with a total of 140. Even though Ole Miss has a 4-12 record in SEC play, they are 8-9 ATS against conference foes. KenPom predicts a UK cover with an 80-62 victory. The Wildcats have a 96.4% chance to win according to ESPN’s BPI.

Regional Tournaments Begin in Louisville and Lexington

The 1st Region technically got the ball rolling last night, but most boys’ basketball regional action tips-off Tuesday night across the Commonwealth. Every team remaining in the 2nd, 6th, 7th and 11th Region is playing tonight, highlighted by a matchup between Ohio State bound George Washington III (CAL) and Louisville commit Kaleb Glenn (Male). Those two tip-off at 6 pm at Male. You can find all of the KHSAA postseason pairings here.

Mark Stoops Introduces New Kentucky Football Coaches

A lot has happened since the last time we spoke with Kentucky’s head football coach. This morning Mark Stoops will go to the Kroger Field media room to talk about three new additions to his coaching staff. Once he finishes talking, Rich Scangerallo, Mike Stoops and Zach Yenser will take the podium to share why they jumped at the chance to coach the Wildcats. It’ll be an eventful day for the KSR Football beat before Adam Luckett and I take our talents to Indy for the NFL Combine.
