KSR Rapid Reaction: 2023 Big Blue Madness

And that’s a wrap on this year’s Big Blue Madness.

The Kentucky men’s and women’s basketball teams took the Rupp Arena floor on Friday night for the school’s annual preseason event. There weren’t many surprises, as it was your typical Big Blue Madness: player intros, a (very exciting) hype video, the 3-Point and Dunk Contests, and, of course, light scrimmaging to cap off the night. Most notably, John Calipari was introduced by fan-favorite DeMarcus Cousins while Kyra Elzy brought back every former women’s coach to recognize 50 years of Kentucky WBB. Both were very cool moments.

All in all, it was a regular Big Blue Madness. For some, that might not be enough. We understand, but I personally enjoyed the fast pace of the event and how there was always something going on — even if we weren’t treated to a special surprise. The players seemed to enjoy it too, so I won’t complain.
