KSR Roadtrip: Texas' first trip to Kentucky was a WILD ONE

KSR Roadtrip: Texas at Kroger Field

Just how painful was Kentucky‘s loss to Texas on Saturday? Seeing it all through KSR’s eyes helps tell some of the story — no one better at that than Steven Peake, who will one day have “The Cats did this to me” written on his gravestone when he’s six feet under.

He joined Nick Roush and Adam Luckett on the drive to Lexington and Kroger Field where the Wildcats came up inches short against the Longhorns, despite dominating them in essentially every category. There was hope, right up until the very end, and then the rug got pulled from right under all of us. Two overtime Superman dives at the goal line later, it was nothing more than another loss for Mark Stoops in year 13.

Peake described the feeling perfectly in real time:

“There’s at least one game every year that just crushes you, right?” he said in the latest KSR Roadtrip video feature. “Georgia last year, South Carolina the year before, Ole Miss the year before that, Tennessee the year before that, Ole Miss the year before that, Tennessee and Florida the year before that. Being a Kentucky football fan is to just accept the art of heartbreak.”

You get to see it all unfold as it’s happening, starting with the fan excitement and the peak of hope, then ending with devastation. Oh, and you get a glimpse at just how hard the KSR crew works at these games, almost always as the last group out of the building.

This time, it was two-something AM, as Peake noted.
