KSR Today: Camp week, Monday with Mark, Santa's Pub sightings, and more things

Who’s ready for football season? If you’re not ready, get ready because it’s quickly approaching. Today, KentuckySportsRadio.com will be heavy on football content as August sneaks up on us. Can you believe it’s almost time for college football teams to report to their respective preseason camps? Let’s start there before we hear from UK’s motivated leader.
It’s nearly football time in the Bluegrass
Preseason camp begins later this week at the Joe Craft Football Training Center. Soon, the 2025 Kentucky Wildcats will report to training camp for up to 25 preseason practices throughout the month of August. On Saturday, they’ll open the doors to fans for one of the first practices of camp. Fan Day will take place from approximately 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., with gates opening at 10 a.m. for early arrivers. Find more Fan Day info here.
Additionally, prepare for KSR’s football coverage to ramp up as coaches and players become available for interviews following practices. We’re counting down until kickoff against Toledo on August 30.
Monday with Mark Stoops
With preseason camp around the corner, Mark Stoops will hold a Monday press conference to preview what’s ahead. Stoops usually speaks on Media Day, which is Friday, but his Q&A will take place earlier in the week before camp begins. Mitch Barnhart is expected to speak in Stoops’ place on Friday before UK’s two coordinators.
Today, we’ll hear from Stoops in the first of many Mondays with Mark to come. These Monday conversations are a recurring event throughout the season. Look out for a recap of his comments here on KentuckySportsRadio.com and a full replay over on KSR’s YouTube.

“Happy Gilmore 2” was a fun watch
Some movie talk real quick: like many of you, I watched “Happy Gilmore 2” over the weekend. I found it to be very entertaining for a Friday night in, even if it’s not going to earn any Oscar nominations. The sequel had so many cameos, it felt more like a collection of celebrity skits than an actual film with a plot. Still, the cameos were so good that it made for a fun couple of hours. Highlights without spoilers include: Will Zalatoris and Scottie Scheffler making fun of themselves, all of the callbacks to the first movie, and, of course, John Daly. Adam Sandler didn’t let us down.
TBT plays on without La Familia or The Ville
The Basketball Tournament will play the quarterfinal of its Louisville/Lexington Regional tonight. However, neither The Ville nor La Familia is still in the tournament. Tonight was supposed to be a rematch of last summer’s melee in Freedom Hall. Still, you can watch (4) Sideline Cancer vs. (2) Eberlein Drive in the round meant for The Ville vs. La Familia. They’re playing in West Virginia instead of the Bluegrass, seen on FS2 tonight at 8 p.m.

Reed Sheppard sang karaoke in Nashville
Now 21 years old, Reed Sheppard was spotted at Santa’s Pub, a popular dive and karaoke bar in Nashville, over the weekend, singing the hottest country music hits. Days before, the Rockets signed free agent wing Josh Okogie, likely finalizing the roster without any backcourt additions, indicating that the organization trusts Sheppard to make a significant leap in his second season.
Ls Down from the Backstreet Boys
A KSR follower, Ronnie King, sent in a photo from the Las Vegas Sphere over the weekend, showing Kevin Richardson of the Backstreet Boys giving a double Ls down for Ronnie’s camera. The Backstreet Boys are at the Sphere until the end of August. Where was my invite to go with you, Ronnie?
