Good morning, Big Blue Nation. It’s a great day to have a day. We are now only 23 days away from the start of the 2025 Kentucky football season, and the anticipation is palpable. We’ll get a few more updates from Mark Stoops’ team today, but that’s not all we have in store for you.

The (Almost) Complete Kentucky Basketball Schedule

We are 78 days away from the first exhibition game of the 2025-26 Kentucky basketball season. On Tuesday, we finally got to get out our pencils to make our calendars.

The SEC announced when almost every game will be played this season. There are a few mid-week flex opportunities, and a non-conference game or two can still be added, but the majority of the schedule is set in stone. It includes an SEC opener on the road at Alabama, and a Senior Day matchup against Florida that could decide the SEC Regular Season Title.

More Updates from Kentucky Football Fall Camp

Ahead of the regular season, we’ll speak with the Kentucky football team following practices on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturday scrimmages. Today, Adam Luckett will have a chat with Brad White and other members of the Kentucky defense. In-between these conversations, Kentucky provided a little insight into what’s happening with the defense by making up Kam Olds, an EDGE who transferred from Kent State this offseason.

College Football RedZone?

ESPN and the NFL have been courting for quite some time. They made it official this week. The Worldwide Leader will add NFL Network and NFL RedZone to its arsenal, in exchange for giving the NFL 10% equity in the company. That comes with some serious implications, including one that could be great for college football fans.

ESPN can use RedZone for other sports. That’s difficult to do in college basketball, but it’s plausible for college football. They have all of the rights to SEC and ACC games, as well as a lengthy assortment of G5 conferences. There might be just enough inventory to deliver a college football RedZone station in the near future.

College Football Season Win Totals

Our favorite edition of 11 Personnel is here. Adam Luckett and I have been diving deep into schedules and power rankings to provide our five favorite futures for the 2025 college football season. Everybody gives out week-to-week picks. College football chaos can make those look foolish. When it comes to preseason win totals, we have a track record of giving out significantly more winners than losers.

Join us to see our five favorite picks to help prepare you for what should be an excellent college football season. The action begins at 8 PM ET on the KSR YouTube Channel. Until then, let my friend Steven Peake tell you why Kentucky has the greatest basketball program of all time.

Will a Kentucky Wildcat get his driver’s license?

Jayden Quaintance has a year of college basketball under his belt, but he’s still one of the youngest players on the team. Today is the day he takes his driver’s test. Will he pass? Mark Pope and the rest of his Kentucky teammates took him for a test drive outside of Kroger Field to make sure he aces the exam.

Bourbon and Beyond gets a Glow Up

Bourbon and Beyond has transformed into the state’s greatest music festival. The four-day event at the Kentucky Fair and Expo Center features some of the biggest acts in music. This year, they’re cranking things up a notch. All passholders will now have access to 18 rides at Kentucky Kingdom. Even though it’s a bit of a hike from the center of the action, surely a few folks will be excited to take a load off by riding the ferris wheel while Sturgill Simpson tears up the stage.

Watch This Episode of Any Given Saturday

The Netflix SEC football series isn’t a great watch for Kentucky fans. The Wildcats essentially serve as a get-right game for everyone they play. It’s not fun. Set that aside and tune in for at least one episode.

The third installment of Any Given Saturday is the best piece of football cinema made in two decades. Sam Pittman candidly talks about his job security before Arkansas upsets a Top-5 SEC team. Kentucky’s starting left guard, Josh Braun, gets plenty of screen time in the episode. That’s just the secondary storyline. You remember Vanderbilt’s upset of Alabama. Not only does it look different through the Netflix lens, it feels different. Clark Lea is a plucky underdog that’s easy to root for (except when they’re playing the Cats, of course).

Happy First Day of School!

The first day of school is dreaded by teachers and celebrated by parents. It’s also a big day for Instagram. Prepare for your feed to be filled with photos of your friends’ kids, because today is the first day of school for JCPS. The Louisville school district isn’t the first to go back across Kentucky. Warren County got the ball rolling on Wednesday. Folks in Fayette get to wait until next week to send their kids back to school.

I am one of many who believe school is starting back WAY too early. You can’t start school before the State Fair begins. For others, school can’t start soon enough. Nevertheless, its arrival is here. To all of the teachers who are making a difference every single day across the Commonwealth, Godspeed.
