KSR Today: Future Kentucky SEC Opponents, Tip-Off Times, and Practice

There were plenty of Bye Week Blues in the midst of a content desert. That has not been the case this week whatsoever for Kentucky fans.
Bruce Pearl’s retirement feels like an eternity ago because there is so much happening around Big Blue Nation. I won’t waste your time with a lengthy intro. Let’s get into the good stuff as Mark Stoops’ Kentucky football team prepares for South Carolina and Mark Pope’s Wildcats hit the practice floor.
The New World Order of SEC Football is Here
The SEC is adding a ninth conference game to the schedule starting in 2026. We will not have dates for those games until December, but we do know who Kentucky is playing every year until 2029.
The Cats have a road trip to South Carolina on Saturday. They’ll have another next fall. They’re also hitting the road for a Stoops Bowl in Norman. That road slate is nothing compared to the gauntlet Kentucky faces in 2028: at LSU, at Alabama, at Tennessee, at Florida, and at Vanderbilt. There are no bankable wins in the new era of SEC football.

Cutter Boley Ready for First Road SEC Start
The redshirt freshman will get his first SEC test as a starter in one of the most difficult venues in the sport. If he’s feeling the pressure, it didn’t show after Tuesday’s practice.
“This has been something I’ve been waiting for my whole life. I just gotta do the best job I can to take this opportunity and run with it,” said Boley.
The sound of Sandstorm and roosters crowing filled the air throughout practice. Once it settled down, KSR also spoke with Bush Hamdan, Jay Boulware, Shiyazh Pete, and Alex Wollschlaeger.
What’s Happening at Kentucky Basketball Practice?
As I get older, some things make less and less sense. What exactly is happening with the chalkboard in this Tik Tok? No idea. What are they writing on the walls at the Joe Craft Center? Beats me.
Fortunately, we don’t need to interpret those posts to know what’s happening at Kentucky basketball practice. Jack Pilgrim has all of the intel you need to know on KSBoard. Not a member? What are you waiting for?!?! Join the fastest growing Kentucky community on the World Wide Web.
Tip-Off Times for Marquee Basketball Games
When Kentucky plays in a neutral-site event with multiple gamers, there’s a high percentage chance that you’ll be seeing them in the nightcap. That’s not the case this year for the Cats in the CBS Sports Classic and the Champions Classic.
Mark Pope will face off against his mentor, Rick Pitino, when the Cats take on St. John’s in Atlanta at 12:30 PM ET. Kentucky also drew the early game in the Champions Classic with a 6:30 PM ET tip-off against Michigan State. Tickets for the game at MSG are on sale now.
Details for Big Blue Madness
We got a third tip-off time on Tuesday, if that’s what you want to call it. The ball isn’t technically tipped at Big Blue Madness. Would it be a dance off? Let’s not get lost in the semantics when there are logistics to share. Instead of a Friday night, Big Blue Madness will be Saturday, October 11, at 6 PM ET.
The Good News: It’s a Kentucky Football Bye Week.
The Bad News: The event will only be streamed on SECN+ and there will not be a campout.

Two New Wildcats in the Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame
Two of your favorite players are now Kentucky Sports Hall of Famers. Tayshaun Prince is arguably the greatest player to suit up for Tubby Smith, and Randall Cobb redefined versatility during his Kentucky tenure. Now their plaques are among the best athletes the Commonwealth has ever seen at Freedom Hall.
Kentucky and Louisville Soccer Draw
The 22nd-ranked Wildcats nearly knocked off No. 12 Louisville on the road. Unfortunately, this sport has ties.
Kentucky fell into a 1-0 deficit until Isaiah Chisholm assisted on the equalizer to Alex Ruiz. He put the Cats ahead in the 23rd minute. Those final minutes felt like an eternity, as the Cats couldn’t hold on for the win. Louisville evened the score in the 88th minute, leading to a 2-2 draw between the in-state rivals to move Kentucky to 4-0-3 on the season.
Kentucky Assistant Joins Sources Say
When Mikhail McLean isn’t coaching the Cats, he’s hanging out on Sources Say. Hear what he had to say about hitting the trail in Kentucky blue, this year’s team, and much more with Jack Pilgrim and Shawn Smith.
Ready for more content on the KSR YouTube Channel? Adam Luckett and I got you covered with a new 11 Personnel tonight at 8 PM ET. Will show you the path to a Kentucky victory in Columbia and breakdown what the new schedule means for the Wildcats.
It’s Wings Day at KSBar
Celebrate the occasion with $1 wings — traditional or boneless, drums or flats — at KSBar and Grille. The day gets started with Drew Franklin and Ryan Lemond. Yesterday, they got the chance to hang out with Dennis Johnson for an hour, and Ryan tried hopping into a time machine. Does it make any sense? Of course not, and that’s why we love it.
Sister Jean Retires
Most folks reach retirement age at 65. Sister Jean waited another 41 years. The team chaplain for Loyola Chicago became a sensation when Porter Moser led the Ramblers to a Final Four in 2018. The 106-year-old nun is stepping away from official campus duties as she deals with health issues. Her parting message to the Loyola students: “Let your dreams become a reality.”
