KSR Today: It's Kentucky Football Media Day in the Bluegrass
Good morning from Kentucky Football Media Day 2025. We’re celebrating the first day of August with a long day of football coverage, beginning early on Friday with the Wildcats. KSR has several boots on the ground today, like 18 boots, ready to talk to the team about camp and the season-opener not too far away.
Mitch Barnhart will lead off Media Day
Mitch Barnhart will be the first to speak at Kentucky Football Media Day 2025. UK’s AD is expected at the podium later this morning, where he will likely discuss the latest in revenue-sharing, football scheduling, expectations, and the many other topics around football and throughout UK Athletics. Hopefully, Mitch will provide some indication of how Kentucky will divide its rev-share to clear up conflicting reports over the summer–most recently, Matt Norlander’s report that half will go to basketball. KSR will share with you everything that Mitch has to say at Media Day.
Coordinators to follow Barnhart at the podium
After Barnhart, Kentucky’s offensive and defensive coordinators, Bush Hamdan and Brad White, will each field questions from the room about their respective sides of the ball. Last week, Hamdan turned heads speaking at a kickoff luncheon when he said Kentucky’s Big Blue Wall will return this fall. Hamdan will expand on that comment and more, plus White’s comments on the defense. KSR will share all of their words with you, too.
Mark Stoops did his talking earlier in the week
Stoops is around the facility today, but he will not hold a Media Day press conference for the first time since he’s been the head coach. Stoops instead did his talking on Monday because of a procedure he had done this week on his face. He told everyone he’s fine, but didn’t want to be on TV with a “cut-up face” or sunglasses as he recovers. He’s a full elsewhere else in camp, just not looking the part for television today. Watch the replay of Monday’s conversation below.
KSR will be live from Media Day
Today’s KSR show will broadcast from Kroger Field during Media Day. We have not confirmed our special guests on the show, but we plan to interview coaches and players, including Stoops, per tradition. Tune in from 10 a.m. to noon. The show will be linked here on KentuckySportsRadio.com at 10 a.m. to help you find it.

There was an NFL game last night
Last night in Canton, Ohio, the Chargers whooped the Lions in the first preseason game of the new year. The Hall of Fame Game is a long-standing tradition in the NFL, and L.A. won the 2025 version by a score of 34-7.

The Braves and Reds went crazy
The Braves beat the Reds in the first game of their three-game series, winning 12-11 in extras. However, it’s the eighth inning that went nuts. The teams were tied 3-3 through seven innings, then Atlanta scored eight runs in the top of the eighth to go up 11-3, only to give up eight runs in the bottom of the eighth to tie it back up at 11-11 going into the ninth. The Braves’ winning run came on a sac fly in the top of the 10th.
Today, they’ll play a daytime rematch in Cincinnati before heading to Bristol, Tennessee, for the Speedway Classic 25.
