The Bat Cats got the job done on Saturday afternoon in the Clemson Regional by defeating USC Upstate. Now the hard day has arrived. Kentucky needs to win two games on Sunday to create a single-elimination game to advance to the Super Regionals.

UK will have to do it by beating the No. 1 seed first.

No. 2 seed West Virginia beat No. 1 seed Clemson 9-6 on Saturday night. The upset victory was capped off by a bases loaded strikeout to end the game. The Mountaineers now receive a mini-bye and will face the winner of Clemson and UK on Sunday night.

The action will get started at high noon. Kentucky will be looking to extend its season by handing Clemson a consecutive home defeat. Mingione’s club is in survival mode.

KSR will be here throughout the day to provide coverage of yet another postseason run by the Bat Cats. Can UK play two today?

GAME PREVIEW: Kentucky vs. Clemson

KSR recaps Kentucky’s first postseason win

After another tough one-run loss in walk-off fashion, Kentucky had to bounce-back quickly on Saturday. The Cats did just that without their best player in the lineup. UK handled business with star freshman shortstop Tyler Bell out of the game with a knee injury.

Five different Wildcats recorded a hit with Carson Hansen getting the party started with a three-run home run in the first inning. Starting pitcher Nic McCay (4 innings, 3 hits, 3 earned runs, 5 strikeouts, 3 walks) and relief pitcher Ethan Walker (5 innings, 1 hit, 0 earned runs, 7 strikeouts, 2 hit by pitch) shut the door to help Kentucky advance with a 7-3 victory.

Daniel Hager was on the scene to provide coverage. We’ve got a Rapid Reaction (featuring special guest Derek Terry) plus Saturday’s press conference posted on the KSR YouTube Channel.

2025 NBA Finals: Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Indiana Pacers

The New York Knicks gave it a good run after falling in a big hole in the series with the Indiana Pacers, but that run ended on Saturday night in Downtown Indianapolis. This series will not return to Madison Square Garden.

For the first time since 2000, the Pacers are headed to the NBA Finals. A franchise looking for its first title is facing an Oklahoma City Thunder organization that will be searching for their first title. Despite getting a championship matchup with two small markets, this is a series of two young rosters with some real star power.

The party gets started on Thursday night in OKC.

Scottie Scheffler is (probably) going to win another golf tournament

Scottie Scheffler is clearing the best professional golf player in the world. The 28-year-old Texan just keeps proving it.

At the Memorial Tournament in Greater Columbus, Scheffler carded a four-under 68 to take the solo lead (-8) over Ben Griffin (-7). The golf superstar was six shots back when he made the turn to the back nine.

Scheffler started the round with 13 consecutive pars before recording four birdies over the last five holes to take control. While there was carnage just about everywhere on the course with a bunch of players putting multiple squares on their card, Scheffler just survived and put himself in position to win another tournament.

Jim Nantz and the crew will be on the call for CBS on Sunday as Scheffler looks to add some more hardware to his trophy case. Nick Taylor (-5), Jordan Spieth (-3), Sepp Straka (-3), and Keegan Bradley (-3) are also in contention.

A big official visit weekend wraps up at the Joe Craft Football Training Facility

The official visit bonanza is off and running in college football. There are some commitments now occurring across the landscape. Will Kentucky add some players to their recruiting class on Sunday?

We’re about to find out.

The Cats had a handful of 2026 prospects on campus. Those players will leave some time on Sunday afternoon. If UK did record a recruiting win, we should hear about it soon.

Stay tuned for more recruiting coverage.
