KSR Today: A Kentucky Bye Week Saturday

Typically, Saturday morning posts in the fall are dedicated to preparing you for the next Kentucky football game. Unfortunately, BBN has to wait another week to watch the Wildcats take on South Carolina.
The calendar has given us a second-straight season with multiple bye weeks. That’s great for the overall health of the team, especially when two starting cornerbacks, DJ Waller and Terhyon Nichols, are nursing injuries. However, it’s setting the Wildcats up for a long grind to end the season.
After a road trip to South Carolina, Kentucky will travel to Georgia. That’s followed by another bye week, setting up for seven straight games to end the season.
SEC football is not for the faint of heart. Enjoy a hot September Saturday before Kentucky dives into a difficult SEC schedule.
Relieve the Last Kentucky Win
It’s okay to let the Eastern Michigan win linger a little longer than normal. In case you missed it, the UK Sports Video department gave us an inside look at Cutter Boley‘s first win as the Wildcats’ starting quarterback.
Scout the Next Kentucky Opponent
You can’t watch Kentucky today, but you can watch who they’ll play next. LaNorris Sellers suffered a head injury in the loss to Vanderbilt. On3’s Pete Nakos and Chris Low report that South Carolina’s superstar quarterback will be in action when the Gamecocks take on Missouri.
Faurot Field will host one of two SEC matchups tonight at 7 PM ET on ESPN. The Gameocks are 9.5-point underdogs, with a total of 48.5.
Saturday College Football Slate
Today’s slate does not feature a bunch of Top 5 teams against one another, but we do have quite a few rivalries that can create some entertaining television. The Apple Cup is on the line between Washington and Washington State, TCU and SMU will compete for the Iron Skillet, and College GameDay is in Miami for the Sunshine State rivalry game against Florida. We’ve got six locks on the Pigskin Preview to help you win some money during this Kentucky football bye week.

New Intel from Kentucky Basketball Practice
It’s not officially Kentucky basketball season, but Mark Pope’s Wildcats are back in the gym, preparing for the 2025-26 campaign. Jack Pilgrim has not been inside the Joe Craft Center, but KSR has eyes and ears everywhere. He learned that Otega Oweh has taken off the boot as he nears the end of his rehab stint for turf toe. He also shared which players are consistent standouts in these early practices.

The Journey Returns
If you’re a card-carrying member of BBN, you’ve watched The Journey a time or ten before. In the series, the UK Sports Video department takes a cinematic look at Kentucky basketball wins. That’s what made this Friday night notification a little surprising. There wasn’t a game, just a summer of practices. It’s still got everything you want to see from your Wildcats.
A Busy Day in the City of Louisville
Prepare for a logjam on Central Avenue this Saturday. The headbangers are out in full force at the Fair and Expo Center for Louder than Life. Louisville is hosting Eddie George’s Bowling Green Falcons at Noon. Right down the street at Churchill Downs, the horses will be racing, starting at 12:45 PM ET. Officials expect 150,000 people in that small chunk of land in the middle of the city. Prepare accordingly.
Kentucky Volleyball in Action
Fresh off an impressive 5-set victory at Louisville, your sixth-ranked Kentucky Wildcats are returning home for one final non-conference game. Craig Skinner’s squad hosts the Washington Huskies at 1 PM ET at Historic Memorial Coliseum.
LCA Wins the KSR Game of the Week
Lexington’s Holy War delivered a dramatic ending. No. 23 Lexington Christian Academy and No. 22 Lexington Catholic were deadlocked in the fourth quarter. LCA had less than a minute to deliver a game-winning strike. Rather than settle overtime, sophomore QB Nash Whelan dropped a 45-yard bomb to get in scoring range, then found Jeremiah Burbage for a 22-yard touchdown, Whalen’s fourth of the night, securing a 28-21 win.
