In Kentucky we have soccer in action, horses ready to race, basketball recruiting and the transfer portal is popping. Here’s what people are talking about around the BBN.

Bryce Hopkins to Providence

Most of the BBN has its eyes on who’s going into the transfer portal. 6-foot-6 South Dakota State swingman Baylor Scheierman certainly raised some eyebrows when the 47% three-point shooter entered his name into the mix. Meanwhile, a former Wildcat has discovered his next collegiate destination. Bryce Hopkins will be taking his talents to the Big East to play for Ed Cooley’s Providence Friars.

“I picked Providence because I feel like I was not only wanted but needed,” Hopkins told On3. “From day one, before I made my commitment to Kentucky, me and Coach (Ed) Cooley built a strong relationship. I feel that coach Cooley has a great plan for me to reach my goals of going to the next level.”

Not only wanted, but needed; Hopkins must have been listening to Cheaptrick while mulling over his decision.

Celtics Bring Brooms to Brooklyn

The first sweep of the NBA Playoffs happened to Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Even though the officials wanted the series to stay alive a little longer, the Nets could not even steal one at home against the Boston Celtics. KD had 39 points in a 116-112 loss to Boston, who got 20+ points apiece from Jayson Tatum, Marcus Smart and Jaylen Brown. Meanwhile in Philly, Tyrese Maxey’s team is reeling with an injured Joel Embiid and in danger of blowing a 3-0 lead.

  • Raptors 103, Sixers 88 (Philly leads 3-2)
  • Mavericks 102, Jazz 77 (Dallas leads 3-2)

Heat Can’t Lose

You couldn’t lose either after hearing these inspirational words from Denzel Washington. “You never see a U-Haul behind a hearse,” is absolutely outstanding. Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro and Co. can close out the Hawks in Game 5 tonight at 7 pm ET.

UK Softball Swept

That’s a headline nobody has been able to write in years. Kentucky lost 9-1 to Missouri Monday in five innings. It’s the first time in three years the Cats have been swept by an SEC team. Last weekend was not kind to Rachel Lawson’s squad either, just taking one of two at Arkansas. Fortunately, they can turn it around right away. Tonight at John Cropp Stadium the Kentucky softball team hosts NKU at 7 pm ET.

Bat Cats in Action

There are two games on the diamond tonight on UK’s campus. After taking one from Vanderbilt over the weekend, Nick Mingione’s Kentucky baseball team will host the Dayton Flyers. The first pitch at Kentucky Proud Park is set for 6:30 pm ET.

NFL Draft is around the Corner

We are only two days away from watching dreams come true at the NFL Draft in Las Vegas. The Kentucky Wildcats could have up to seven players picked this week, tying a modern record set last season. Fourteen draft picks in two years? Not too shabby. Adam Luckett joined me on 11 Personnel to preview the Draft and break down the latest Kentucky football transfer portal developments.

Crazy Eastern Kentucky Police Chase

No, there wasn’t a Hollywood studio shooting an action movie on the Mountain Parkway. This police chase had a dramatic ending in Powell County. It’s one of those videos you can’t watch just once. Crazy.
