Good morning. How are you holding up? You’re looking a little better. I think the shower helped. You’re starting to look like yourself again as we all pick ourselves up on this Moving On Monday morning.

Me, I was in the disbelief phase for a day or two; then the sadness hit when Murray State and Saint Peter’s were on my television; and now I’m numb to it all as the realization sinks in that, once again, we’re living through March without Kentucky Basketball. Our whole lives, March has been about one thing, yet here we are without what makes us… us…. for a third straight year.

The tournament still moved on, though, and last night the Madness sent another SEC team home for good with Auburn’s loss to Miami. Wisconsin got upset, too.

Unfortunately, the same can’t be said of Duke as Coach K’s last ride will see another weekend. Here’s the updated bracket through two rounds:

A path of Saint Peter’s, Murray State, Purdue, UCLA/UNC… unbelievable.

John Calipari is scheduled to do his call-in radio show

Fans demanding more answers from John Calipari will get their chance to hear from him tonight during his Monday call-in radio show. As far as I know, Calipari will be in his regular time slot from 6 to 7 PM on the UK Sports Network to take calls from the fan base and from the show’s host, Tom Leach.

If you’re unable to listen, or one of the many who can’t stomach listening, check back here on the KSR website later tonight for a rundown of Calipari’s comments.

Daimion Collins expected to return for his sophomore year

Sadly, the NCAA Tournament’s first weekend hadn’t ended before stay/leave season began in Lexington. Early into the Sunday afternoon games, 247Sports’ Travis Branham broke the news that Daimion Collins intends to return to Kentucky for his sophomore season.

Always the expectation for Collins and his family, the freshman will be back with Kentucky Basketball for another year to continue his growth and development. If he can add some weight this summer, he will be a major contributor for the Wildcats next season.

Collins averaged 2.9 points and 2.0 rebounds in 7.4 minutes per game in 2021-22.

Calipari was out recruiting on Sunday

In New Jersey, John Calipari and his entire staff watched DJ Wagner in the finals of New Jersey’s Tournament of Champions. Wagner scored 23 points for Camden, but lost to Roselle Catholic in a thrilling overtime finish.

Kentucky has long been considered the heavy favorite in Wagner’s recruitment because of his dad, Dajuan Wagner’s connection to Calipari. But the hire of Kenny Payne at Louisville brought a new fight to Calipari for Wagner, whose grandfather is a Louisville legend for winning a national championship with Payne.

“Watch The Tape”… if you can stand it

Brandon Ramsey rewatched the game so you don’t have to. In the final “Watch The Tape” of the year, the film reveals Saint Peter’s scoring all over Kentucky’s defense rather easily.

On second thought, it’s a Monday morning. Don’t click that. Here’s Kentucky Football’s Super Bowl commercial instead.

Spring football practice resumes

Kentucky Football took last week off for spring break, but today spring ball resumes over at the UK Football Training Facility. We will start hearing from coaches again tomorrow.

Mr. and Miss Kentucky Basketball announced

In high school basketball news, Bowling Green’s Turner Buttry and Anderson County’s Amiya Jenkins were named 2022 Mr. and Miss Kentucky Basketball. Buttry, a future Eastern Kentucky Colonel, scored 23 points per game while shooting over 50 percent from the field, 50 percent from 3, and 90 percent from the free throw line for Bowling Green.

Jenkins is off to Kentucky next season following her standout senior season at Anderson County. She averaged 20.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per game in Anderson County’s first Miss Basketball season.

The CBI continues tonight

Need more college basketball to come down from the weekend? The College Basketball Invitational continues tonight with Drake versus UNC Wilmington, Northern Colorado versus UNC Asheville, Middle Tennessee State versus Boston, and Ohio versus Abilene Christian in the nightcap.

The Basketball Classic can add to your basketball fix, too. Florida Gulf Coast has Coastal Carolina in a coast-off and SC Upstate could end South Alabama’s season.

I think I’ll catch up on Survivor.

Remind your local state senator to pass sports betting

When’s the last time you hit up your state senator to urge them to pass House Bill 606? Use this link to give them a nudge toward the present. It passed the House with overwhelming support but the other room still needs some convincing.

Kentucky Baseball got swept

Another bad outcome for UK Athletics over the weekend, Kentucky Baseball’s 0-3 loss at Arkansas on Sunday completed the Razorbacks’ three-game sweep of the Wildcats.

Kentucky is back home tomorrow night versus Morehead State to try to escape a four-game losing skid.

KSR is live from KSBar and Grille from 10 AM to noon

Come by and say hi to Matt Jones, Ryan Lemond, and me as we host two hours of Kentucky Sports Radio from KSBar and Grille this morning. We’ll continue reflections on the season and the loss, plus reactions from the callers as we all move on together.
