The National Basketball Association is taking centerstage in the sports world tonight. At 8 pm ET the future of the league will be put in the hands of a few ping pong balls when the NBA Draft Lottery draws this year’s draft order. Is this event on your radar? Maybe, because PJ Washington will be there representing the University of Kentucky and the Charlotte Hornets. However, it’s best used as a pregame show for the opening game of the Eastern Conference Finals. Now is a good time for Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo to silence the Celtics and return to the NBA Finals. That game starts at 8:30 pm ET on ESPN.

Shaedon Sharpe had a Pro Day

You probably don’t want to see Shaedon Sharpe NBA Draft prep videos right now, but just in case you do, have at it.

Oscar Tshiebwe Eats Bugs

If you’re like me, you’d rather watch the reigning National Player of the Year chow down on a pile of bugs. If eating bugs made me grab 15+ rebounds a game, pass me a napkin.

Final UK Baseball Homestand

The Kentucky baseball team is barreling toward the postseason, searching for some momentum at the eleventh hour to propel them into the SEC Tournament. Currently in the field for the conference tournament in Hoover, tonight the Bat Cats get one final shot at a non-conference opponent. They’ll host Tennessee Tech at 6:30 pm ET before Auburn comes to town for the regular season finale this weekend. Today’s a good day to heat up those bats, Cats.

Worst First Pitch Ever?

The ceremonial first pitch has produced some high quality content over the years. John Wall put forth a poor effort, one that was not as bad as 50 Cent’s. Thankfully for Steve Aoki, there are no high quality videos of his pitch that almost flew over top of the backstop and into the stands. Instead of hitting the strike zone, he pulled a Josh Forrest. Incredible.

Rhyne Howard is Awesome

The former Kentucky Wildcat has opened up a can whoop ass on the WNBA. She earned Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors in her first week in the league, an accomplishment that has not been done since 2002. She had a few extra fans in the stands for her most recent game in Indy. Kyra Elzy loaded up a busload of UK fans to go support the former Kentucky star and it’s the best kind of wholesome content.

General Booty Commits to Oklahoma

Yes, General Booty is the real name of a real person that is really going to play college football next year. He committed to Oklahoma over the weekend and frankly, we haven’t celebrated that fact enough. General Booty. That’s his God-given name. He’s also a quarterback. Even more perfect. He was pretty decent in the JUCO ranks too, ranking second nationally last year with 3,115 yards and 25 touchdowns. I just hope he’s good enough to start for the Sooners. We really need General Booty puns in the broadcast booth on Saturdays.

Bring a Big Wallet to the PGA Championship

We are two days away from the start of golf’s second major tournament. If you want to have a nice time at the PGA Championship, it’s going to cost you. A 25 oz. Michelob Ultra will set back patrons $18, or as Golf.com put it, $1 more than you’ll find an 18-pack at a Tulsa Target. For those who are dining, it’s $14 for a cheeseburger and $16 for a salad. There’s one way to make this right: Let players sneak beers in their golf bags to pass out to fans. After all, is it officially a game of golf if you aren’t bringing a few of your own beers to the course?

In 1875 Aristides defeats a 15-horse field to win the inaugural Kentucky Derby at the Kentucky Jockey Club. The racetrack did not take the name Churchill Downs until a year later. More than 10,000 people were in attendance for the three-race card.
