Kentucky’s final exhibition matchup

All eyes are on Kentucky’s highly-anticipated trip to New York City to take on Duke in the Champions Classic, but first, they’ve got one final tune-up game to get through.

After taking down Kentucky Wesleyan in its first exhibition game 95-72 last week, Kentucky is set to take on Miles College on Friday at 7 p.m. ET in Rupp Arena. This will mark the first time the two schools have played in an exhibition or regular-season matchup.

Miles College is a Division II school out of Fairfield, Alabama who plays in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Miles is joined by Albany State, Allen, Benedict, Central State, Clark Atlanta, Edward Waters, Fort Valley State, Lane, LeMoyne-Owen, Miles College, Morehouse College, Savannah State, Spring Hill, and Tuskegee in the SIAC. It’s just the second Division II HBCU to play Kentucky in Rupp Arena, with Kentucky State taking on the Wildcats in two exhibition matchups in 2015 and 2019 to go with one regular-season game in 2001.

The Golden Bears took home the last two SIAC Tournament titles in 2018 and 2019, with COVID-19 taking out the conference tournament in 2020-21.

Miles is led by head coach Fred Watson, who is in his third season with the program. His first two years with the program were the two best in school history, leading the team to a 45-13 record, good for a winning percentage of .776.

Vote for Oscar Tshiebwe

It’s time for Kentucky fans to take over another relatively meaningless poll on social media.

In a Preseason Player of the Year poll conducted by the official March Madness account on Twitter, former Kentucky guard Johnny Juzang is taking on current UK center Oscar Tshiebwe in the first round. The former is a one-seed while the former is a 16-seed.

The poll ends later today, and as things stand, Tshiebwe already has the slight lead in his upset bid.

Time to once again show the power of Big Blue Nation.

Come get your Kentucky vs. Duke banter

Need some friendly (and not-so-friendly) Kentucky vs. Duke banter in your life to prepare for the Champions Classic? I joined Crazie Twitter Live late Thursday evening alongside fellow UK media personalities Terry Brown and Michael Beard to debate three Duke fans about the matchup.

Watch at your own risk. They’re homers and think this Duke team is something greater than it actually is: Paolo Banchero and a bunch of dudes.

All joking aside, it was a fun time and you should give it a listen.

Grayson Morgan set to choose between Kentucky and Vanderbilt

Need some recruiting news in your life? Three-star offensive tackle Grayson Morgan is set to make his commitment on Friday, and Kentucky is one of two remaining finalists.

The Wildcats are in a battle with Vanderbilt to land the three-star lineman out of Nashville. He was also offered by the likes of Duke, Indiana, Louisville, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Tennessee and Virginia Tech, among others.

There is no official commitment time, but the announcement will come at some point today. Vanderbilt has picked up the most buzz as of late for the standout prospect out of Montgomery Bell Academy, but it’s still expected to be a neck-and-neck battle down to the finish line.

KSR’s Dog of the Day

We close out Tennessee Hate Week with KSR’s Dog of the Day, a very good girl who — like all of us — can’t stand the Volunteers.

So much that she relieved herself on the field at Neyland Stadium.

@noelcaldwell

Nicely done, pup.
