KSR Today: Tennessee Week, Adem Bona decision
Good morning, friends, and welcome to a new week. No one needs a new week more than the Kentucky Football team. Saturday’s 31-17 loss to Mississippi State was downright deflating, and if you’re like me, you’re still mad about it.
Typically, this would mean a shift to basketball, but oh no. I got so invested in this football team’s 6-0 start that I refuse to let them off the hook after two losses. Tennessee comes to town this weekend and if the Cats do what they did Saturday — find ways to lose — I will be supremely pissed. You know, kind of like Mark Stoops on Saturday.
We’ve got a lot of ground to cover today. Let’s get to it.
Kentucky fell to No. 17/18 in the rankings
Saturday’s loss cost the Cats in the rankings. Kentucky fell six spots to No. 18 in the AP Poll, five spots to No. 17 in the Coaches Poll. None of the Cats’ remaining opponents are ranked. Kentucky opened as a three-point favorite in Saturday’s game vs. Tennessee, which kicks off at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
Adem Bona announces his decision at 10:30 a.m. ET
We’ve got a rare Monday morning recruiting announcement to keep an eye on. Five-star center Adem Bona will announce his decision at 10:30 a.m. with Shams Charania. Kentucky and UCLA are the finalists for the 6’10” Nigerian-Turkish native, who plays for Prolific Prep in Napa, California. Four of the five predictions in Bona’s 247 Sports Crystal Ball are for UCLA, although he said he grew up dreaming of playing for John Calipari at Kentucky. We’ll know for sure soon enough.
Mark Stoops’ weekly press conference is at 12:00 p.m. ET
At noon, Stoops will meet with reporters to try to make sense of Saturday’s loss in Starkville. At the time, he said Mississippi State “kicked our butts”; No one will disagree with him. If that’s not enough Mark Stoops for you, his call-in show is tonight at 6 p.m. on WLAP. We’ll have a live stream of Stoops’ presser and recaps of both appearances for you on this here website.
We’ll get the Vanderbilt game time
Game times for Week 11 will be announced around lunch. Given the slate and the fact that we’re playing Vanderbilt, an afternoon kick seems likely. Here are the other SEC games on November 13:

Astros force Game 6
Last night had the chance to be an epic one for Drew Franklin, Shannon the Dude, and Atlanta Braves fans everywhere, but Houston had other plans. The Astros beat the Braves 9-5 to force Game 6, which takes place tomorrow night in Houston. Atlanta leads the series 3-2.
“The Journey” has begun
On Friday night, Kentucky Basketball opened its exhibition schedule with a 95-72 win over Kentucky Wesleyan. Miles College is up next on Friday night, but if you need a hoops fix before then, the Kentucky Wildcats TV staff gifted us with the first installment — nay, the prologue — to “The Journey.”
“I’m looking for dogs” is clearly a favorite line of Calipari’s already this season.
Help Shannon and Billy pick a theme song
If you’re a devoted KSR fan, you’re listening to the KSR PreShow with Shannon the Dude and Billy Rutledge right now. You also know they’ve been looking for an intro song. Make their job easier by choosing your favorite song below.
That’s plenty to get you going this morning. We’ll have coverage of Adem Bona’s decision and updates from Mark Stoops rolling out all morning and afternoon, so stay tuned.
