Lest we forget other big wins
Kentucky Sports Radio needs to give a big shout out to the Vols from down in Knoxville. If Bruce Pearl is able to build Tennessee into a consistent winner (which is a big if), many folks may look at Saturday’s game against Texas as one of the turning points. Tennessee went on the road to Austin and manhandled a Longhorns team that was coming off an embarrassing lost to Duke in their last game. It is very rare to ever beat a team that is a national title contender. It is even more rare to beat that team on the road. And it is virtually unheard of to beat that team by a large margin and absolutely dominate the game.
Tennessee is quickly becoming a program on the rise, and the improvement should continue next year with a great 06 recruiting class including Duke Crews and Wayne Chism. Over the last few years, the SEC has boiled down to Kentucky, Florida and then an occasional visit from Mississippi St, Alabama or LSU….it may be time to re-evaluate that calculus and to acknowledge the rise of the Vols.
