Lexington will represent the United States of America in today's Cal Ripken World Series

The boys from Lexington’s Veterans Park got the job done in yesterday’s U.S. Championship game of the 2023 Cal Ripken Major/70 World Series, defeating the team from Honolulu, Hawaii, 2-0, in the American final. Lexington’s Southeastern U-12 All-Stars will now play for the grand prize at 5:30 p.m. ET today when the U.S. and International representatives play to decide the overall World Series Champion. Taiwan is the final opponent, having won yesterday’s International Championship over Japan.

In Kentucky’s championship victory, Zach Fugate struck out 12 batters in the shutout win.

About the 2023 Cal Ripken Major/70 World Series

The Cal Ripken Major/70 World Series is a 10-day, 34-team event featuring clubs from throughout the United States and from Puerto Rico, Taiwan, Japan, Bahamas, The Netherlands, Korea, Mexico, Canada, Australia, and the Caribbean.
