We’ve got some more good news regarding Liam Coen. On today’s SEC Teleconference, Mark Stoops confirmed that Coen will return to offensive coordinator duties on Saturday vs. Akron. Coen was released from the hospital on Tuesday after suffering a medical episode at the Kentucky Football practice facility on Sunday.

“Liam will be back in his normal capacity which we’re just very grateful [for]. I will refrain from saying too much. I’m sure Liam will tell the story as he wishes; I just want to respect him in that way.”

Last night, Coen sent out a tweet thanking fans for their support and saying that he can’t wait to return to Kroger Field on Saturday.

“My family and I thank you for all the support and prayers these past couple of days. The #BBN community is truly amazing. I’m doing much better, thankful for the care I received at UK Chandler Hospital, and can’t wait to see you Saturday at Kroger Field — Go Cats!”

All week, Mark Stoops has declined to go into details regarding Coen’s episode out of respect for his privacy. On Monday, he did get emotional in his press conference when asked about the impact Coen’s health scare had on the staff, sentiments he echoed today.

“It was most definitely a scary situation,” Stoops said on the teleconference. “Anytime you see any of the people you work with or anybody that you’re close to going through any type of medical situation, it’s challenging. Fortunately, things happened while we were in work hours, a lot of people were around and our trainers and doctors were here on Sunday morning checking out our players as we were up watching the film.”

Kentucky changed the media schedule this week, flipping the days the offense and defense speak to reporters after practice. Last night, we heard from Brad White, so that could mean that we hear from Coen this evening. Either way, we’ll have boots on the ground, so stay tuned to KSR, KSBoard, and the KSR YouTube Channel for updates.
