LIVE: Point Kentucky previews No. 10 Tennessee with freshman Brooklyn DeLeye

On Sunday afternoon, the No. 23 Kentucky volleyball team will travel to Knoxville to try to avenge their lone Southeastern Conference loss of the season against No. 10 Tennessee.
The Cats are currently riding a four game winning streak and are 7-7 on the season, the first time they’ve sat at .500 since beginning the year 1-1. But Tennessee has come out of the gates on fire this year and have lost only one match on the season, a five-setter at No. 1 Wisconsin in early September. The Volunteers rank first in the SEC in hitting percentage, assists per set, and kills per set, and are second in opponent hitting percentage and service aces.
The last time these two met Tennessee walked out of Rupp Arena with a 3-0 victory, the first time the Vols have left Lexington with a win since 2010. But the Cats were without senior right side hitter Reagan Rutherford, who hasn’t played since suffering an eye injury in practice the week prior to that match. Rutherford still hasn’t seen the court since being out, but the Cats seem to be hitting a stride for one of the first times all year. No word has been released yet on if Rutherford will play on Sunday.

In Rutherford’s absence, freshman outside hitter Brooklyn DeLeye has stepped up in a major way, having broken or tied her career high in three of Kentucky’s six SEC matches. DeLeye joins Hunter and Leah to recap another successful weekend in conference play and preview the matchup against the Volunteers.
It’s not just the current Cats who are playing well right now though, as Leah Edmond, Alli Stumler Linnehan, and Kaz Brown all played their first weekend of the Athletes Unlimited season last weekend. Leah will be back to recap her first weekend of professional play of the 2023 season. Tune in live at 8:00 pm E.T.
