Logan Stenberg's NFL Combine Comparison

Logan Stenberg will be measured, X-rayed, interviewed, and tested in every way imaginable at the NFL Combine. A large portion of analysis lies within comparisons of current draft eligible players to those of the past. So, for the purposes of this post, we’ll keep the comp within the BBN house. 

Logan Stenberg Comp — Todd Perry 

North Hardin High School product Todd Perry was a teammate of mine that played guard at Kentucky in the early 1990s. The four-year starter was named All-SEC in 1992 and selected as the team’s most outstanding offensive lineman as a junior and senior.  Drafted in the fourth round by the Chicago Bears, Perry was the first offensive lineman selected by then new-head coach Dave Wannstedt. He went on to start 144 NFL games in his eleven-year career with the Bears and Dolphins. Even more impressive, Perry’s toughness and durability were on display as the guard started every game on the schedule through eight of his eleven seasons. Much like Logan Stenberg, run blocking was Perry’s strong suit. He was considered as one of the NFL’s top run-blocking guards. 

Logan Stenberg was a three-star prospect coming out of high school with UK being his only Power Five offer. Under John Schlarman’s tutelage, he blossomed into an All-American at the University of Kentucky. Considered a mauler with long arms, he possesses many traits that NFL teams covet from an interior offensive lineman. Stenberg was a key contributor for the Wildcats’ record-breaking season on the ground. Kentucky ran for 3,634-yards in 2019. The Madison, Alabama native was a vocal team leader. Some would call him an enforcer that didn’t shy away from on-field pugilism. 

Perry was a quiet, serious-natured college football player. To be honest, I can’t remember him talking much at all. He was more of a technician than mauler at Kentucky. However, both Perry and Stenberg were considered top run blockers in the Southeastern Conference. Logan does not get as much credit as he deserves in the technical aspect of playing guard. His senior season average game-grade was 85%. However, he is more known for his physicality along the line-of-scrimmage. The 6’6, 317-pound guard started 39 consecutive games which was topped off by registering 95 knock-down blocks and 209-blocks at the point-of-attack during his senior season.

What Does This All Mean?

Todd Perry and Logan Stenberg are UK all-timers at the guard position. Slightly different styles on-the-field and vastly differing personalities off, strangely the pair has more similarities than differences. Both enjoyed tremendous careers in Lexington. Perry went on to be an eleven-year starter in the NFL. Stenberg’s professional journey will start in Indianapolis at the NFL Combine. Next up we’ll discuss the comp for Lynn Bowden.
