LOOK: Kentucky Women's Soccer Secures Another Ranked Win

The biggest crowd of the season was treated to a spectacle at The Bell. On a beautiful night in Lexington, the Kentucky women’s soccer team knocked off No. 25 Alabama 2-1. The Wildcats improved to 9-3-1 following their second Top 25 victory. Kentucky is 3-1 against SEC foes, the Wildcats’ best start in SEC play since 2013.

Kentucky put the pressure on Alabama from the jump. Katherine Truitt recorded her first career goal, hitting the back of the net off a corner kick, to give the Cats an early 1-0 advantage.

Freshman goalie Khadijah Cissé had a career-high four saves, but could not completely blank the Crimson Tide. Alabama delivered an equalizer in the 77th minute. The Cats did not stay down for long.

Kentucky immediately attacked the box where Tanner Strickland drew a penalty kick. For the second straight match, Gabrielle Poretto‘s number was called on a penalty kick. She delivered the game-winner into the bottom right corner of the goal.

The Cats are rolling at The Bell. They’ll have another opportunity to log a Top 25 win at home next Sunday when No. 13 Vanderbilt comes to Lexington for a 1 PM ET kickoff. Before that match, UK hits the road to Gainesville for a Friday night match against Florida.

The Wildcats now have their best start to SEC play(3-1-0) since 2013!
