For the third time in a week, the Kentucky 2024 recruiting class is losing a player. Lorenzo Cowan, a three-star Edge from Savannah, GA, shared on social media that he is reopening his recruitment.

As was the case for the previous two flips, the next destination for Cowan is clear. He officially visited USC over the weekend and left with a glowing review. The predictions are already in from various recruiting analysts. One week from today Cowan will most likely be signing with the Trojans.

Four-star linebacker Elijah Groves flipped to NC State and three-star IOL Jadon Lafontant committed to Boston College.

Cowan is the younger brother of Tavion Gadson, a freshman Kentucky defensive lineman. The family connection was not enough to keep Cowan on board. The 2024 three three-star talent thanked Mark Stoops and Chris Collins for recruiting him. He also gave an additional shout out to the Kentucky defensive coordinator in his parting message.

“I would also like to give a special thanks to Coach White on the UK staff. He has walked me through my process and helped me understand the importance of being who you say you are,” Cowan wrote.

Cowan committed to Kentucky in September. He’s ranked as the No. 93 Edge in the country according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services.

The Wildcats’ high school class, ranked in the top 25 nationally, is now down to 20 commits as the roster undergoes a numbers crunch during roster construction season. Kentucky is still expected to sign four Edge prospects one week from today. Jacob Smith and Brian Robinson are two of the highest-ranked players in the class and they project to play right away for the Cats. Brad White’s outside linebacker room should be fine, but they are losing a twitchy player that could have provided some explosiveness on the edge of the UK defense.
