Malachi Moreno headlines Kentucky/Indiana All-Star Game this weekend

There is no basketball event in the country quite like the Kentucky/Indiana All-Star Game, held annually since 1940 as the nation’s longest running series of its kind. Featuring the states’ top seniors, the 2025 edition will start at Lexington Catholic High School on June 6 and finish at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on June 7 — each state getting a shot at home-court advantage. Overall, the Indiana boys lead the series 104-46 over Kentucky with both sides splitting the event last season, KY winning 103-82 in Lexington before IN responded with a 92-89 victory in Indianapolis.
The Indiana Junior All-Stars beat the Kentucky Junior All-Stars on Sunday by a final score of 119-108. Will the Senior All-Stars be able to get revenge? They’ll have UK basketball signee Malachi Moreno there to help before he begins his career in blue and white.
Mr. and Miss Basketball honorees earn the right to wear No. 1 in the event — just in case the 7-foot-1 talent was hard to find on the floor, joining Sacred Heart’s ZaKiyah Johnson for the girls. Moreno is one of 12 standouts on the roster, joining Vince Dawson (Great Crossing), Jonah Butler (Calloway County), Julian Miles (South Oldham), Austin Sperry (Breathitt County) and Andy Johnson (Cooper) among other 2025 KHSAA Boys Basketball Sweet 16 participants.
Moreno led Great Crossing to a 35-4 record and the school’s first-ever state championship while averaging 21.5 points, 14.9 rebounds, 3.6 blocks and 3.5 assists per contest, racking up 37 double-doubles in 39 games while shooting an impressive 72.1 percent from the field. The future Wildcat will participate in a meet-and-greet before the KY/IN All-Star Game tips off at Lexington Catholic on Friday starting at 5 PM ET.

For the 2025 Indiana All-Stars, the main name to know is a familiar face for Big Blue Nation: Braylon Mullins of Greenfield-Central, the state’s Mr. Basketball and a former Kentucky target who ultimately signed with UConn.
