Mark Pope, Jasper Johnson and Mo Dioubate recap Blue-White Game (and Jaland Lowe's injury)

All eyes are on Jaland Lowe and his shoulder, going down in the Blue-White Game and having to get it popped back into place by the training staff before missing the rest of the intrasquad scrimmage. Mo Dioubate shared the opening statement at the podium, raving about the team’s overall intensity while also adding that communication remains a work in progress.

When it came time for questions, though, the spotlight shifted over to Mark Pope with only one thing on everyone’s mind: What’s the latest with Lowe?

“Yeah, he tweaked his shoulder. So we’ll see,” he said. “Kind of sat him down out of precaution. We’ll know more tomorrow. We’ll probably get some imaging tomorrow, kind of see how it responds tomorrow. But he’s an incredibly tough young man, so I’m sure whatever it is, he’ll battle through it well.”

Elsewhere, Pope said he wasn’t remotely surprised by the level of competition and added that the team is itching to take on someone other than themselves. Jasper Johnson also talked about his individual performance and comfort level at the point guard spot in case Lowe’s injury lingers for any extended period of time. How about Andrija Jelavic and his pair of triples? Pope talked about that, too, and how he had to make him run stairs to force him to confidently let it fly rather than pass up shots.

“I’m excited about his trajectory,” he said. “He’s making the game a little bit simpler, which is really important for him. He brings a unique physicality to the game that I think can be really important for us. We’re expecting big things from Andrija.”

What did they think of Otega Oweh’s return? Or Trent Noah’s confidence as a shooter? Any other standouts? Pope, Dioubate and Johnson talk about it all following Blue’s win over White in the scrimmage at HMC. See it all for yourself below:
