Mark Stoops is embracing his inherited Kentucky roots.

The Kentucky Football head coach and his wife Chantel are investing in a new local bourbon business and distillery, Old Wm. Tarr bourbon, according to Wave3news.

“It’s been a really cool investment for several reasons,” Chantel Stoops said. “For one thing, it’s a lot of fun and it’s so neat to learn about the bourbon.”

The bourbon is named after Paris, KY native William Tarr, who owned and operated Lexington’s first federally registered distillery back in the 1860s-70s. They aren’t running tours right now due to the pandemic but announced their first product this past Wednesday, Old Wm. Tarr Manchester Reserve, a 7-year aged small-batch bourbon with a proof of 114. The distillery also announced the production of a 12-year bourbon called Inheritance, which has a proof of 120.

“This bourbon has actually got a really smooth and wonderful flavor to it and for me, it’s also the romantic part of bourbon,” Chantel Stoops added. “It’s the glass and the big cube and the pour.”

Was this the bourbon that Stoops was talking about after the win over Tennessee?
