Mark Stoops Breaks Silence on Vince Marrow Departure

To say the Kentucky football team received some surprising news this week would be an understatement. Vince Marrow, one of Mark Stoops‘ first hires at Kentucky, is leaving Lexington to join Jeff Brohm‘s program at Louisville.
Mark Stoops has said repeatedly this offseason that he doesn’t want to make a headline. However, news of this magnitude forced him to break his offseason silence.
Shortly after the news became official on Thursday morning, he had this to say about Marrow’s departure.
“We’re thankful for Coach Marrow’s contributions to our program over the past 12 years. As we look to the new season, and a new era of college football, we’re focused on the opportunities at hand,” he said.
“We will continue to build a roster and staff that balances talent, experience, maturity, physicality and the attitude it takes to win in the nation’s most competitive conference. I wish my friend and colleague nothing but the best.”

The Kentucky head coach took the high road. It will be interesting to see what exactly he will say when he’s peppered with questions about the shocking situation from the media at a later time.
Folks often say that actions are louder than words. If that’s the case, Stoops’ Kentucky football staff did take action in the wake of Marrow’s departure. It was a two-horse race between Kentucky and Louisville for Jordan Crutchfield. The three-star Florida ATH had an official visit scheduled to Louisville this week. That was scrapped when he announced on Wednesday that he has committed to Kentucky.
