WATCH: Mark Stoops talks Kentucky's loss to Ole Miss, QB situation

Mark Stoops likes his team’s potential — but even he can’t get past the mistakes Kentucky made in the 30-23 loss to Ole Miss. The Cats hung with the Rebels for most of the game, but couldn’t close the gap, due in large part to some self-inflicted wounds.
“Many good things, but certainly, we all will look at a lot of the negatives and a lot of things that we need to get fixed and get cleaned up,” Stoops said to start his postgame press conference. “And quite frankly, some of them are inexcusable. So that’s on us. I love the fight of this team, and I love how hard they play. We need to be competitive in every snap.”
Stoops repeatedly called out his team’s execution vs. Ole Miss, especially on the offensive end. Whether it was clock management or penalties, the Cats seemed to shoot themselves in the foot entirely too often, which spoiled an impressive performance by the defense. The errors were frustrating, but the story of the day is the quarterback change. Zach Calzada left the game with a shoulder injury with six minutes to go. Stoops said even if Calzada’s injury isn’t significant, he will evaluate the quarterback situation moving forward, opening the door for Cutter Boley.

“Let’s just look at it the way it is. I mean, [Calzada is] banged up. I don’t know to what extent. I would think he would more than likely miss Monday or Tuesday. But I want to see Cutter. Yeah. I want to see him. Yeah.”
