Paducah (Ky.) Tilghman rising junior Martels Carter is a priority target for Kentucky in the 2025 recruiting cycle. The No. 1 player in the Bluegrass has gotten the full-court press from the coaching staff in Lexington with Vince Marrow running point in this recruitment. After getting the four-star prospect on campus for junior day, buzz is building for the Wildcats.

Kentucky is now trending for the top-200 prospect and the No. 15 overall safety in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking. Carter recently caught up with On3’s Chad Simmons and provided an update on his recruitment. The Kentucky target specifically mentioned two current players on the Kentucky roster.

“I know players there already and they love the program,” Carter told Jacob Polacheck of KSR on Aug. 24. “Cutter Boley is a close friend of mine. They like the program and they’re doing well. That means a lot.”

“That’s a person I look up to,” he added about Kentucky wide receiver Barion Brown. “I love the way they play. They’ve got guys with speed and they like to sling it. For a fast guy like me, I would love that.”

Simmons reports that Oregon, Tennessee, Louisville, and Clemson recently visited Paducah Tilghman to see the four-star prospect. However, Carter has only taken recent unofficial visits to Kentucky and Miami. The prospect has a “strong feeling” about one school at the top of his list.

Kentucky is in a great position in this recruitment if a decision occurs soon.
