Masters rain delay will provide full day of golf on Easter

If you were looking forward to a day full of major tournament golf on Saturday you were left highly disappointed. Just 15 minutes into the broadcast by CBS, the horn blew at Augusta National Golf Club forcing a full delay for round three.

That wasn’t the only delay we saw this week at the Masters.

Twice on Friday, play was suspended causing round two to bleed into Saturday. Those players who ultimately made the cut then had to play with a two tees format with some starting round three on hole No. 10 with play starting late Saturday morning. Throughout the day, players were forced to play through rainy conditions with heavy winds until the horn finally blew with the last group on hole No. 7.

Augusta National suspended play until Sunday. We will get a full day of golf starting at breakfast time as the Masters attempts to finish round three and play round four tomorrow.

Unlike Saturday, CBS will pickup the coverage immediately as there will be professional golf on the tube throughout Easter Sunday. As long as mother nature doesn’t produce another storm, there should be enough time to finish the tournament.

Brooks Koepka is chasing his fifth major championship

Brooks Koepka went on an incredible run from 2017-19. The Florida State alum won the 2017 U.S. Open, won two majors in 2018 (U.S. Open and PGA Championship) and then brought home another PGA Championship in 2019. Koepka had 13 top-10 finishes over a stretch of 17 majors through 2021 as he was the best golfer on the planet.

However, things fell off for Koepka beginning in 2022. Plagued by hip and knee injuries, Koepka did not make the cut at last year’s Masters and didn’t finish higher than 55th in any major championship. Then the popular golfer decided to join the LIV Golf International Series in June and we haven’t seen much of him since.

Koepka emerged last week winning a LIV event in Orlando and has parlayed that into an impressive first 42 holes at Augusta. Buoyed by a bogey-free second round, Koepka is the heavy favorite to bring home his first green jacket thanks to a four-shot lead with 30 holes to play
