Matchup To Watch: Harrison vs. Henderson

Tomorrow night in Oxford, the Cats will be looking to bounce back from a critical loss to Florida. After Andrew Harrison scored more than a third of his teams' points on Saturday with 20, the infamous Marshall Henderson will look to do much of the same to Andrew Harrison and the Kentucky defense. With the scoring ability of Henderson and then Andrew coming off one of his best games of the season, the point guard matchup will be something to watch for.   Andrew Harrison vs. Marshall Henderson [caption id="attachment_152004" align="alignnone" width="600"]Image Via Chet White | UK Athletics Image Via Chet White | UK Athletics[/caption] In the first matchup in Lexington, Andrew played an exceptional game with nine points on only three-of-four shooting with five assists. Marshall Henderson on the other hand racked up a game high for the Rebels with 16 points, although it took him 18 shots to get it. This will be the key matchup to watch considering Henderson can put up 25+ points on any given night, while the bigger, more physical Andrew Harrison will be required to play a little defense to make sure Henderson doesn't score in bunches.   For the Cats, losing back-to-back games could derail their season at this point and the Henderson-led Rebels could use a big win to make a tournament statement. For Kentucky to get the win, Andrew Harrison must shoulder the task of putting a cap on Marshall Henderson. But slowing down Henderson isn't usually simple so Cal has surrounded Andrew with some other talented kids who could help guard Henderson like Aaron Harrison and James Young. We know Marshall Henderson will find a way to get his points, but our defense needs to make sure it takes plenty of shot attempts for him to do so.   Henderson has scored in double-digits in all-but-one game including eight games of 20-plus points. The Rebel guard shoots nearly every time he gets a look at the basket and his scoring numbers are reflective of that. If he can get in the scoring rhythm he does quite frequently, the Cats could find themselves having to close out a tough game on the road. Fortunately for Kentucky, Henderson doesn't have the strongest supporting cast and would need to put up close to 30 points to keep it close. Andrew Harrison must improve on his second half defense against Florida. But as we've seen from previous match ups against Marshall Henderson, it usually is more than one player that defends him, including Willie hedging or even switching on screens. Henderson doesn't face a team of Kentucky's size that often.   Other things to watch for:   Alex Poythress and Aaron Harrison: They went missing against Florida at the worst time. Let's see if they can step up and contribute to a win in Mississippi.   WCS: The last time these teams met, Cauley-Stein piled up 18 points, 11 rebounds and six blocks off the bench. His size will be an advantage again tonight. Watch for another big game from WCS.   How many times does Julius Randle have three people guarding him? Nobody on Ole Miss can guard Randle. They know it and he knows it. Just like the first meeting, Randle will have half the team guarding him every time he touches the ball.     @CodyDanielKSR
