Kentucky QB target Matt Ponatoski schedules official visit with Oregon
Kentucky is still hunting for a quarterback in the 2026 high school recruiting cycle. A national championship contender in the Big Ten is now coming after one of UK’s top targets.
The Wildcats have been linked with Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller star Matt Ponatoski since last summer. Oregon recently entered the chat with offensive coordinator Will Stein leading the charge. The Ducks will get Ponatoski on campus in June for an official visit.
That visit (June 20-22) will occur on the same week that Matt Ponatoski is on the West Coast. The four-star quarterback will be at the Elite 11 finals from June 17-19 in Los Angeles. This is currently the only football official visit that Ponatoski has scheduled.
The two-way star has very busy baseball schedule throughout the summer. Ponatoski will likely eventually have to make a long-term decision, but the plan right now is to play football in the fall semester and baseball in the spring semester in college. Every coaching staff recruiting him knows this. The quarterback took a baseball official visit to Kentucky during the spring semester and made a quick stop at the Joe Craft Football Training Facility during his time in Lexington.

Matt Ponatoski led Moeller to a state championship as a junior in a year where he threw for over 4,000 yards and 56 touchdowns. That came shortly after a very impressive camp performance at Kroger Field in June. Ponatoski had been committed to Missouri for baseball before re-opening his recruitment.
Alabama has also recently joined this battle. Kentucky is still in the hunt but the Ducks have emerged as a legitimate option.
