Meet America's Favorite Baseball Player, Todd Peterson

Twitter/@SEC
I have a new favorite baseball player, and his name is Todd Peterson.
Peterson is a right-handed pitcher for the LSU Tigers, who before Wednesday, never had a collegiate hit. But, during an elimination game in the SEC tournament against South Carolina, he had no choice but to hit during the 12th inning. In his first at-bat for the Tigers, Peterson hit a two-run double to give the Tigers a three-run lead in the top of the 12th. This double would end up winning the game for the Tigers as the Gamecocks would strike for one run in the 12th.

Here’s what Peterson had to say after the game in this comical interview.

Later, Peterson would come clean about his hitting career in high school in the postgame press conference.

I know he doesn’t play for coach Minge, but it’s hard for me not to enjoy watching this kid in interviews. He’s even great with kids, how could you not love this guy?
This made my day. Spread the love. #LSU #Peterson pic.twitter.com/4VjEzkEHlN
