james-codren-school-for-santas (Originally posted on August 7th, 2014) Craig Ferguson announced in April that he would be exiting the Late Late Show on CBS, leaving everyone wondering who would replace the Scottish-born comedian.  Names floated around including Chelsea Handler and Joel McHale.  On Tuesday, the leading name for the job has come out as James Corden.  Most people had the same reaction of, "Who?"  But, we're here to fill you in on where you may have/have not seen the British actor. Corden is a Tony Award winning actor for his performance in One Man, Two Guvnors in 2012, and is a staple in British television.  His first big role on TV came with a program on ITV called Fat Friends from 2000-2005. In 2007, Corden co-wrote a TV on BBC Three titled Gavin & Stacey, where he played Smithy, best friend of Gavin.  That role won him a BAFTA for Best Male Comedy Performance, as well as British Comedy Award for the same category in 2007. corden Through his early comedy television roles, Corden is becoming more recognizable in mainstream television. He has twice appeared on Doctor Who as Craig Owens, a brief roommate turned friend of the Doctor.  He also had a six part comedy thriller (which he co-wrote) called The Wrong Mans, which is available on Hulu Plus.  Other times Corden has appeared on British television included a slew of spots on panel shows, including 8 Out of 10 Cats, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and The Big Fat Quiz of the Year.  He hosts his own show called A League of Their Own, which is a sports-based comedy panel game show. Most recently Corden won £32,000 for charity on Celebrity Deal or No Deal. Corden is also starting to find himself on the big screen in bigger roles nowadays, as well. He was in the recently released, "Begin Again," and now the soon to be released Into the Woods.  It's also (probably) a little known fact that James Corden co-wrote the music video for One Direction's "Best Song Ever." This news comes with a caveat, in that neither CBS or The Late Late Show has confirmed Corden as the official replacement.  Corden is a multiple threat in being a comedian, actor, tony-award winner, singer, dancer, and I'm sure more that we haven't seen yet.  Corden as Ferguson's replacement looks like a good decision as of now, but only time will tell. (UPDATE: As of 9/8/14, Corden has been officially named the replacement for Ferguson) ___________________________________________________________________ A Few James Corden Videos:   James Corden sings "Don't Stop Me Now" on A League of Their Own https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9q9KSufusx0   Corden as Smithy at BBC Sport Relief Night https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvvKUtHlDK8   Corden's Ultimate Lip-Sync for Cadbury https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VlQ4hhJ8fAQ   Corden and Jack Whitehall sing Call Me Maybe on Big Fat Quiz of the Year 2012 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8beAv2vpCr0
