About a week ago I made a post detailing the tribulations of the Pittsburg Football Head Coaching situation. Their previous head coach, Dave Wannstedt, had already been fired, but their new Head Coach, Mike Haywood, wasn’t all that into coaching a bowl game he wasn’t prepared for. So who do you go with? Well the picture may have become abundantly clear last night, when new Pitt Head Coach Haywood was arrested for Domestic Assault in South Bend.
While Pitt has yet to make a full statement on the situation, they did release this via email:
“The University expects the highest standards of conduct from its employees, including its coaches, and any breach of those standards is a very serious matter. The University will decline further comment until more complete information is available.”
So yeah, the same Mike Haywood who was reluctant to coach a big time program in a bowl for his first game may have just blown his opportunity to ever coach them. Clearly someone should’ve kept their talents out of South Bend.
