In shocking media news today,
Mike Tirico is leaving ESPN for NBC sometime this summer. It's a massive loss for ESPN, where Tirico was the voice of Monday Night Football, called NBA and college basketball games as well as helped with tennis and golf.
For the college basketball world it means Dan Dakich will be paired with someone new, which is a shame as Tirico did a good job with Dakich, keeping him from going on his tangents and allowing Dakich to break down the game in front of him. For Monday Night Football, the rumor is Sean McDonough will replace Tirico, which is great news for a guy who once was part of the best college basketball announcing crew with Jay Bilas and Bill Raftery.
Look for Tirico to be on Olympics coverage behind Bob Costas and Al Michaels this summer.
