Mo Donegal wins 154th Belmont Stakes

Mo Donegal is the winner of the 154th Belmont Stakes as the third leg of the Triple Crown took place early Saturday evening at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York.
Going off the board at 5/2 odds, jockey Irad Ortiz, Jr. rode the three-year-old thoroughbred to a win for trainer Todd Pletcher and owner Mike Repole. Mo Donegal entered the race as the betting favorite
After a fifth-place finish at the Kentucky Derby, Mo Donegal bounced back for a strong performance in the longest leg of the Triple Crown as the racehorse was within 5-6 lengths throughout the entire race and emerged as the clear top horse on the final stretch.

Mo Donegal recorded his fourth career victory, and Pletcher has now won the Belmont Stakes four times.
Kentucky Derby winner Rich Strike made his first appearance since the Kentucky Derby when the thoroughbred pulled off a huge upset at 80/1 odds. Unfortunately, the horse got off to a bad start and immediately fell into last place never threatening in the race at Belmont Park.
All eyes now turn to the Breeders’ Cup which will be hosted at Keeneland in November.
