Kentucky recruited Danville (Ky.) Boyle County standout Montavin Quisenberry for a long time but never decided to go all-in until the three-star recruit’s Mr. Football season as a senior. The Cats ultimately flipped the wide receiver recruit from West Virginia. That seems like a wise decision.

The class of 2025 signee has quickly made a splash in Lexington.

After making a positive impact during spring practice, the in-state recruit is showing some development during fall camp. The 5-foot-10 and 170-pound wideout made competitive catches in both open practices this week and seems to be building a real rapport with redshirt freshman quarterback Cutter Boley. The young player is catching the attention of the coaching staff at the Joe Craft Football Training Facility.

“He’s a good young player,” Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops told KSR on Saturday after fan day. “I think he’s going to get better with every rep, with every opportunity.”

Stoops also pointed to Montavin Quisenberry’s ball skills and says the true freshman tracks the ball very well. That could make him a potential threat in the vertical passing game. There are a lot of unknowns about the Kentucky wide receivers in 2025 with many veterans stepping in. That has create a logjam. However, Quisenberry has proven early that he belongs on the field and could develop into a real playmaker for the Kentucky offense.

“He’s going to get better and better,” Stoops said.

Luckett’s Scouting Notebook: Montavin Quisenberry

Over at KSR+, I put together scouting write-ups on each Kentucky high school signee in the 2025 class after watching film and collecting data. This is my breakdown of Montavin Quisenberry.

Undersized wide receiver who is a generator with the ball in his hands. Owns short-area burst and make you miss wiggle. Generated 3,340 yards from scrimmage and 56 total touchdowns as a junior and senior at Danville (Ky.) Boyle County. A versatile playmaker who will need to find a permanent positional home at the next level.

Flipped from West Virginia to Kentucky in October. Three-time first-time All-State selection.

Projects as a slot receiver who can provide a gadget skill set used in the run, screen, and return game. There are some size concerns. True wide receiver development is needed, but the raw speed plus quickness combo gives the in-state product a solid foundation to build on.
