With The Basketball Tournament still a little under a month away from tipping off, there is some work to be done with La Familia’s roster.

So far, Kentucky’s alumni team consists of eight talented former Wildcats, including one who played this past season under Mark Pope: Ansley Almonor (2024-25), Kahlil Whitney (2019–2020), Aaron Harrison (2013-15), Andrew Harrison (2013-15), Willie Cauley-Stein (2012-15), Archie Goodwin (2012–2013), Doron Lamb (2010–2012), and DeAndre Liggins (2008–2011).

Three of those eight (Harrison twins, Cauley-Stein) are key returning players from La Familia’s TBT debut last summer, which included a trip to the semifinals. Goodwin, meanwhile, has been a TBT regular over the years and one of the event’s best players. Almonor is only a few months removed from shooting 42.4 percent from deep as a ‘Cat. Outside of Almonor, all of them continue to play professional basketball across the globe.

Looking at just those eight pieces, La Familia expects to have one of the most talented teams in the 2025 edition of TBT. But more roster additions are on the way before practice gets rolling (and yes, this year’s La Familia team will once again scrimmage against the 2025-26 Kentucky men’s basketball squad).

“We have one more player committed who is not a UK player, but he has ties to coach Sean Woods, and he will be announced soon,” La Familia general manager and former Kentucky guard Twany Beckham said Tuesday. “We are looking forward to adding one to two more players, just waiting on a few guys and their schedules.”

Beckham added that they had a player decommit from this year’s team due to contract obligations with their current professional team, but the expectation is to bring in two or three more players to fill out the complete roster. Woods, who played at UK from 1988-92, has been a college assistant or head coach since 2003 — there are plenty of talented non-Kentucky players he holds ties with who could join the La Familia roster.

La Familia will play Stroh’s Squad on Friday, July 18, at 9:00 p.m. ET on FS1. If La Familia advances to the second round, they will face the winner of War Ready (Auburn Alumni) and X-Rayted on Sunday, July 20, at 2:30 p.m. ET on FOX Sports. The Lexington Regional championship game is Tuesday, July 22, at 6 p.m. ET on FS2. Tickets for the Lexington Regional are now on sale at TBTHoops.com/tickets.
