MSU CB transfer DeCarlos Nicholson to visit Kentucky this weekend

Add another high-profile visitor to the list for Kentucky this weekend. Now, it’s Mississippi State cornerback DeCarlos Nicholson, who entered the transfer portal on Thursday.
The senior defensive back spent two years with the Bulldogs after signing with the program out of junior college in 2022. He’s coming off a breakout campaign that included 42 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss and two pass breakups in ’23. His career totals sit at 47 tackles, 2.0 TFL and three PBUs.
Nicholson was one of the top-rated JUCO prospects prior to his time in Starkville, rated as the ninth-best player overall and third overall cornerback in the ’22 class. The former Petal (MS) High School and Mississippi Gulf Coast CC standout was rated as the No. 4 overall player from Mississippi out of JUCO.

Could he join the Kentucky secondary? His visit to Lexington will help decide that this weekend.
If the name sounds familiar, it’s because Nicholson was once committed to Kentucky as a JUCO standout. He announced his pledge to the Cats back in September 2021 after previously decommitting from Mississippi State. The 6-3, 200-pound DB ultimately flipped back to MSU on signing day.
Now, Nicholson is rated as the No. 33 cornerback in the portal, according to the On3 Industry transfer portal rankings. And he could be flipping back to Kentucky to close out his career.
Come on down.
