Murray State Survives and Tennessee Baseball gets THUMPED
The dream of a College World Series is still alive for the Murray State Racers. You can’t say the same about the defending champions, the Tennessee Volunteers. What a shame.
Facing elimination in the Durham Super Regional, Murray State fell behind 2-0 in the opening frame and did not blink. They responded with three runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back.
Murray State racked up five runs in the fourth inning to build up a 10-3 lead. As Kentucky fans are well aware by now, no lead is safe in postseason college baseball. Duke blasted a two-run bomb in the sixth to make it a 10-8 game.
The Racers had one more in them. Murray State hit two home runs to cap off a nine-run seventh inning, pulling away from Duke for a 19-9 win. The Blue Devils had three errors, while Murray State teed off for 17 hits to force a decisive game three on Monday. The winner will advance to the College World Series. If the Racers can pull off the upset and reach Omaha for the first time in program history, they will become just the fourth No. 4 seed to make it to the College World Series.

Tennessee Loses, America Wins
Big Blue Nation does not need a lesson on why Tennessee is the absolute worst. Today, America got to enjoy watching Tony Vitello‘s program take one big stinking L.
The Vols took plenty of victory laps after winning last year’s College World Series. Plenty of folks were taking victory laps on Tennessee’s grave when Arkansas’ Logan Maxwell uncorked a grand slam that opened the floodgates. The Razorbacks took a 7-1 lead in the elimination game to put Tennessee on the ropes.
Allow me to be nice for two seconds to Tennessee. They went down swinging. The Vols secured a few late runs, but it was way too little, way too late. Tennessee’s season ended with an 11-4 loss to Arkansas. There will be no orange Jello shots at Rocco’s this summer.
