Kentucky has kept a low profile in the recruitment of Nasir Addison. That could pay off with a commitment Saturday night.

Addison will unveil his final college decision Saturday, July 23 at 5 pm EST on Instagram Live. Florida State and Michigan State are in pursuit of the former Maryland pledge, but Kentucky is gaining late momentum. Thursday evening 247 Sports’ Brian Dohn submitted a Crystal Ball pick for Kentucky. The Wildcats now have greater than a 90% chance to secure his commitment according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).

A 6-foot-1 athlete from Irvington, New Jersey, Addison is a three-star prospect. He is ranked as one of the Top 200 wide receivers in the country according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Even though he’s considered a wide receiver by all of the major recruiting websites, Nasir Addison recently said he’s been recruited primarily as a defensive back. He initially committed to Maryland last fall, but reopened is recruitment a couple of weeks ago. Even

Kentucky’s Quiet Pursuit of Nasir Addison

Recruited by Brad White, you won’t find much about Kentucky while scrolling through Addison’s social media accounts, aside from a visit in April to Lexington. Josh Edwards from 247 Sports reports he has taken an official visit to UK, but those are the only details we know about the alleged visit. It’s unknown if he’s taken official visits elsewhere.

Addison has opted to remain relative quiet about his recruitment, just what Kentucky loves to see when they believe they have found a dynamite prospect. Too much noise could draw unwanted competition from other Power Five programs.

If the Wildcats secure a commitment from Nasir Addison tomorrow evening, he will be the second defensive back to join Kentucky’s 2023 recruiting class. Mark Stoops currently has 12 verbal commitments. Five prospects have pledged their allegiance to UK in July.

After unsuccessfully courting All-American Davison Igbinosun, the Wildcats have not landed a recruit from the state of New Jersey since Josh Allen. If Addison becomes half as good as Allen at Kentucky, consider that a win.
