As the football team rides a successful season thus far, and as we swiftly approach the oncoming basketball season, we here at Kentucky Sports Radio know that we'll probably gather some new readers. While most of you are familiar with the ways message boarding and posting works on this site, during a meeting the other night at the compound we all agreed it might be beneficial for our site's rookies to re-iterate some of the generally-known rules of etiquette to ensure enjoyment for everyone. Here, then, are some basic rules to bear in mind as you continue to read and post throughout the year:
1. Whenever trying to convey a feeling in your post, emoticons are highly functional. Sometimes, when written only textually, a post may not fully denote the attitude of its writer. For example, there's a big difference between this:

And this:

Sometimes, the fine line between police surveillance and common vernacular can be defined better through these symbols. Other common emoticons may include, but are not limited to, the following:
: ( - I am sad
:O - I cannot believe that.
:p - I am making a silly face as I write this.
r:) - I have a combover.
T:) - This is a medical opinion.
! : ) - I am a wizard.
///:) - The books I am balancing on my head are going to fall.
2. Though allowed, it is not necessary to post every minute and a half. Your mental health will benefit greatly from taking the time to construct your thoughts clearly. If you don't think you're ready, walk away from the post for a minute. Hug your child. Make a pot of tea. Your post will ultimately be stronger in the end.

5. Unfortunately, sometimes posts are deleted. This is sometimes due to profanity in the text or incindiery viewpoints. When this happens, other posts move up in number. Make sure the post you're responding to hasn't been deleted, or a situation like this:

6. Contrary to what you might think, not everything requires your opinion. I know, it's surprising. But the message board belongs to everyone, and certain rules of human decency should be adhered to.
