Nerlens Noel is out of the hospital following scary fall, concussion

© Alonzo Adams | USATSI
Last night, former Kentucky star Nerlens Noel took a scary fall against the Minnesota Timberwolves, taking an elbow to the face and hitting his head on the hardwood. The Oklahoma City center was knocked out cold and had to be taken off the floor on a stretcher.
We heard a bit of good news this morning when no fractures were found at the hospital and a concussion was the extent of the injury.
Tonight, even more positive came for the former Wildcat, as he was officially released from the hospital and will now be placed in NBA’s concussion protocol.

According to the official release from the Thunder, Noel stayed overnight at the OU Hospital for “tests and observations,” and they felt he was well enough to be released today.
Now in the NBA-mandated Return-to-Participation Protocol, Noel will have to follow a process that includes a “series of steps designed to ensure an athlete exhibits symptom-free behavior before resuming basketball activities.”
There is no timetable for a return, but this news is certainly fantastic for the former Wildcat.
Get well soon, Nerlens.
