Ranked No. 1 in the country according to the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association Preseason Top 20, Kentucky will play "host" to No. 5 Akron this Saturday at 9 a.m., but with both teams participating from their respective home turfs through a virtual setting. https://twitter.com/UKRifle/status/1314675813783134208 The 'Cats were unstoppable in 2019-20, posting an undefeated 15-0 record while winning the Great American Rifle Conference regular-season championship for the first time since 2013 and the GARC Tournament championship for the first time since 2009. Before COVID-19 canceled the 2020 NCAA Rifle Championships, Kentucky was the top-qualifier. On four separate occasions during the previous year, UK bested the program's previous school-record aggregate score of 4719 and also set the mark for the highest score in the nation back on Jan. 19 against Army with 4734. The majority of last season's roster will return for the upcoming year, including four All-America performers. Akron has already participated in a virtual match, beating No. 15 Morehead State last weekend. This will be the 'Cats first time participating remotely. [UK Athletics]
