One word to describe Lexi Blue heading into year two at Kentucky? 'Confident'

Lexi Blue was arguably the highlight of Kentucky’s 2024 freshman class, especially considering that Clara Silva and Tanah Becker skipped out of town this offseason. The former top 40 recruit didn’t have the most eye-popping freshman season ever, just averaging 1.6 points and 1.4 rebounds per game in 23 appearances.
However, the 6-foot-2 guard told KSR during Kentucky’s media day that she thought she had a “great” first year in Lexington. The main reason being that she was able to learn from some great minds like Georgia Amoore, Dazia Lawrence and some of her returning teammates as well as the coaching staff.
‘It was great,” Blue said. “I had amazing support around me with my teammates and my coaches. So, I was able to just pick all of those things and learn a lot. So, it’s been great.”
Speaking of her returning teammates, Blue believes that having them back has helped the team tremendously this offseason. Instead of having to start from scratch again, Kenny Brooks brought back a core of players to help serve as leaders on this year’s squad.
“Not everyone is new,” Blue mentioned. “We’re not having to restart and get to know each other, and no one knew Lexington last year except for few people. So, it’s been exciting because we kind of know what’s going on, and now, we’re able to bring other people with us, and adjusted amazingly and they’ve been working extremely hard.”
As for herself, there’s one word to describe how Blue is feeling heading into her sophomore year at Kentucky. “Confident. I think that’s a good word for me.”

Instead of just saying she was “excited” for this season, she picked “confident”. But why so? Does she have some kind of confidence boost now that she has a year under her belt, or has she just wanted to embrace a confident mentality in general?
“I think it’s a little bit of both,” Blue noted. “Obviously, everything was new last year, and now, I have a sense of familiarity. So, when you have that, a little bit calmer, and I’m more confident in what I’m doing.”
Kentucky is much, much deeper this year compared to last year. Blue should certainly be one of those quality contributors that can help Brooks and the team make more history this season.
