The list of postseason honors continues to grow for Kentucky’s Oscar Tshiebwe. For the second day in a row he’s been named a Second Team All-American.

Wednesday’s honor comes from the National Association by Basketball Coaches (NABC). It’s the second straight year he’s been named an NABC All-American, the first Wildcat to achieve that accomplishment in consecutive seasons since Tayshaun Prince in 2001 and 2002.

Oscar Tshiebwe is Kentucky’s leading scorer (16.5) and for the second straight season, he’s the nation’s top rebounder (13.1). This year he became the first Wildcat to surpass 1,000 career points since 2012. He’s also only two rebounds away from surpassing Chuck Hayes with the seventh-most rebounds in Kentucky basketball history. Oscar Tshiebwe has tallied double-doubles in 47 of his 64 career games, ranking third in program history behind Dan Issel (64) and Cotton Nash (48).

To earn consensus All-American honors, as Tshiebwe did in 2022, one most be selected by four major entities: the AP, Sporting News, NABC and USBWA. Today’s honor gives him his third this postseason. He was a second team selection by the AP and a third teamer in the Sporting News.

There have been 58 players in program history to earn All-American honors and 12 to play for John Calipari. He’s Coach Cal’s first to win multiple distinctions by one of the four major organizations.
